Love, only better

Attraction, love and commitment are all affected by chemical and hormonal balances in the body. However, they are also operate on more social and ephemeral levels. As we gain further insight and understanding into how we function, not just on a social level but also on a parallel biological level, will we also gain more control?  How might emerging technologies be appropriated to elicit subtle forms of control and how might these changes affect out current societal norms?

The relation between male and female has always been in a state of flux, despite ongoing social paradigms such as marriage. However, as our society evolves, facilitated by changes in politics, culture and technology, so it seems does our human physiology. The average male sperm count has reduced 34% since 1940 and at current rates will be nonexistent by 2100. The female prison population has increased twice as fast compared to that of men over recent years and If social trends continue, by the mid 2020's 10 million people in Britain will be living alone.
The nature of male and female is changing, roles are changing, behaviors are changing and in this fluid and complicated society how and by what means will we adapt?
