Second Year
My twin brother and I were born in Seoul, Korea, way before meat cloning became fashionable. We landed in UK at the height of Italia 90 (Gazza’s tears and all that) to see what the fuss was all about: Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll of the West. Not much came our way, apart from the odd Women’s catalogue, penny sweets and our band called ‘The Garlics’.
Graduating with Bsc. Biotechnology from UCL, I found myself working in scientific research in the hope of finding cure for diabetes. I never did, and was soon lured into pharmaceutical marketing, helping companies to launch their blockbuster gems across the world.
I realised that technology isn’t necessarily about saving lives and making people rich. Perhaps it’s more than ‘life and death’ - like Shankly said about football. Could technology be used to diagnose our social and political health?
