Plug in City

Universal adapter, as the name suggests, is universal in many ways. It has been popular with the travellers around the world, being able to adapt to any environment posed at them. Using this concept of the adaptor being the object or medium that provides connection between cities and people, I aim to modify the adapter to meet a human need - that of providing effective and convenient way of people to integrate into their new city.

Plug in City is inspired from 'Metabolist Movement' in late 1950's architect. The vision of a city of the future inhabited by a multi society was characterised by adaptive, modular, flexible and extensible structures that enable a transformative process. Similarly, I believe that the laws of space and functional transformation hold the future for society and culture, and this has been reflected extensively in Plug in City.

The scenario depicts the City in action, constantly responding to the personal input and transforming for his or her situation. It poses questions about the notion of what a city, and its boundaries might be in the future.
